Saturday dig on creek bed

Well we had good weather Saturday a little cool in the a.m.
but it warmed up into the seventies. We had a few cancellations
but about 8 or 9 people showed up for the dig.
Lois Flood was the only female who attended, unfortunately
I didn't get a picture of her but she was game and entered the creek.

Looking for the right tree to dig up

Every body took off in different directions

Still looking for the right tree

                       I found one

People helping one another to get their
tree

One by one they're coming in with their trees

Every body's happy with their trees & taking a rest

Afterward some of the people came to my place
and potted up their trees

This is one of the trees I dug up & potted it
in a box.

All in all it was a pretty good day for a dig now
I'm tired but it was worth it, I hope everyone
went home happy!!!!

 That's all for now

Finally some decent weather

We actually get a week or more of some decent weather before our next cold front
and it'll in the 50's, at least it won't be freezing.
I found some new places to go on a dig and one of them will be held on this next
Saturday on the 22nd. Both the Dallas & Ft Worth clubs are invited. It's on a creek
bed with lots of trees--happy hunting!!

Most newbies on digs don't know the right way to dig up a tree so here's a lesson
on how to dig a tree:

First you dig a trench around the tree

Then you dig an other trench on one side

this is trench is dug deeper than the first trench
which allows you to access the tap root

then you can use a saw to start cutting the tap root

you may need to tilt the tree to one side or
the other to make sure you get all the roots

then you can lift it out trim the roots & pot it up in
some bonsai soil with some root stimulator &
    fertilizer & your done

Here's Jacob & me on a recent outing

This is where we dug the tree from
      the bank of the creek

This is Jeremy & Randy on a different outing

               Digging trees out of rock
               is hard work

This is all for now I'll post again after Saturday's dig.

Crazy weather pattern

Freezing for 3 or 4 days then warming up to the 70's for 2 or 3 days then
back to freezing again it's driving me crazy!!!! Hope your keeping your trees
protected & that they'll survive this crazy weather.

Mr. Walsh the tree you selected was delivered to Mr.Joe Lucas's home &
your check arrived in the mail today, thank you.

Casey the forrest planting your asking about is a ficus

Mr. Nguyen's  forrest is a regular ficus

The forrest you bought for your wife Mindy is a
Tiger bark ficus a different variety of ficus. I will need to
fix a bunch of forrest plantings of different of types of
trees, I'm almost sold out. They will be ready in the spring.

Owen Reich I'm sorry I took so long  but here are
the pictures you asked for:

 The winged cedar elm

American elm
