             Hope you all enjoyed a Merry Christmas & are looking forward to a Happy New Year!!!!
Don't know why the Mayan calendar ended on Dec. 21st 2012 but I'm glad we're still here.
             The weather has been all over the place lately, 60 degrees one day, freezing the next day!
We had a light snow fall on xmas day but I think were finally into winter mode.

                       

I've been busy with several projects; not to mention taking

down all the shade cloth & removing all the boards & storing

them for the winter. I neglected to print some pictures

that I said I would so, here they are some what belated.

A customer picked this Bonsai & said he want me to repot it

and plant on a rock.

An other client Curtis took a one on one class and then helped me to repot this Juniper.
           The over grown foliage on this Juniper was typical of a group of ten Junipers
that I had to repot, trim,wire & style ; later on.

cold weather just around the corner

       Except for a couple of freezing nights in the last 2 or 3 weeks, we have had unseasonably warm
weather. Cold weather is coming but I've had enough time to take my shade cloth down. Take my
benches down & put all my trees on the ground. I put all my tropicals in the green house so I
should be ready for winter.
       Well I still have to spray for scale / mites / mold / fungus & also use a dormant spray to kill any
 eggs that may over winter and hatch out in spring.
       Fall & winter is the time to check your trees for branch structure. It's much easier to see any
defects with out leaves in the way . You can prune and wire deciduous trees as well as evergreens,
like junipers & pines when the sap is not running.  Pine maintenance is a whole other story which I'll
cover another time but Fall is the time to pull needles on your black pine.
        After this is done or when it's raining or too cold to work outside you can work inside your
green house. Pruning / styling /spraying for mold /fungus / bugs  ect. ect. you get the message,
work is never done.
        Don't get me wrong I love doing this as do others when you get results like these:

          The following trees belong to one of my clients,some of the trees were sold to him
       by me some years ago. He brought them to me to repot/prune/& put lime sulfur on the gin.

            Remember when it gets cold to protect your out side Bonsai trees. Keep the roots
from freezing put them on the ground & mulch around them & keep them out of the wind.
check them for water the cold wind can dry them out just as fast as a hot summer day!

Bonsai and Computer Classes

     I came across a flyer that said "FREE COMPUTER CLASSES" & I thought Hey I could use some of that in my business! I could use a spreadsheet to keep track of my Bonsai/sales/inventory/ & my taxes.




     So for more information: I contacted the Computer Dept.

       I needed to attend Orientation.  Orientation is held every 3rd Friday of the month at 10: 00 A.M.
                 

       Classes are conducted at  Wilkinson Center  at  East field College,
                                                      Pleasant Grove Campus
                                                      802 S. Buckner, Ste. 222
                                                          Dallas,  Tx . 75228 

         Class is led by Instructor Jerry Low  (notice the Bonsai on his desk) it was a gift in
              appreciation for teaching the class.

                            Classes Schedule:
                                                                           Monday through Thursday
                                         Mornings                   8:30 A.M.   to   11:30 A.M.

                                                                                          OR

                                      Afternoon                      12:30 P.M. to 3:00 P.M.
                                                          

           Upon completion of this class you will be able to:

•   Send & receive emails with attachments
•   Locate resources using Internet Explorer
• Type & format a basic resume using MS Word
• Data entry information in MS Excel spreadsheet
• Put together a basic MS PowerPoint presentation

pot shed

This my office or what I like to referr to as my pot shed. It's where most of my Bonsai supplies are kept.
