      Ft.Worth Botanical Gardens on University Dr. will host Ft.Worth's Bonsai Society's Bonsai exhibit this weekend on Saturday June 21 hours are: 10:00 am to 5:00 pm
 & Sunday June 22 hours are 12:00 to4:00 pm.
      Admission is free & open to the public so come on out & see the Bonsai display; in addition there will several Bonsai vendors selling Bonsai trees,pots & tools.  Bent Tree Bonsai will be there

This is just a quick show on how to correct
reverse taper  

you have to carve out the bulge to
bring the truck back into line

  with the rest of the tree

  then you cover the wound with cut paste

       PD your tree is 8 or 9 yrs. old

   Earlier this spring Jacob & I were trying to
repot some dug up Hollie's

  None of them survived  some times you win
some times you lose!!

  On a brighter note this collected
Parsley Hawthorn bloomed for the
first time after ten yrs.

        This is Susie & Butch & they picked out a Juniper.

      This is Rene Solis I was helping her clean out some
  shrubbery from her church. That's to big for Bonsai.

Sorry I haven't posted any thing for last month

          I have been extremely busy not only with Bonsai but other issues involving my banking /my computer/  other matters with my Bonsai business & so on /& so on ....you get the idea !!!
         Any way I promise I will post pictures of some of my customers from last month , in the next couple
of days on my next post.
         As you well know March & April were up & down weather wise I was not able to get my tropicals
out of the greenhouse because of the threat of late freezes!!! So I am still trying to catch up on getting
completely set up. You know I've got my shade cloth up/ set my benches up / trying to clean up weeds/
keep up with fertilization & spraying for bugs/ trimming & styling trees / making cuttings/ re-potting  it never
ends!!!

                              I had to shave off the bottom of the rot ball

Well we are still on this up & down weather ride

    I've managed to go out & do some collecting from local
creek beds & also do some work on trees that were
collected in yrs. past. On top of that I've had to take care
of customers from near & far.

 This is Brandon & Ashley & their son. Ashley I'm
sorry I didn't see that branch when I took the
picture. They were visiting some one in Irving
but they were moving to Chicago,I hope
every thing went well. Good luck!!!

     This is Blake & Michelle, Blake works at Baylor Hospital
He wants to learn about Bonsai so I'm going to help him.

      This is a crepe myrtle that I collected 3 or 4 yrs ago.
I potted it in a large Styrofoam box & now I want to
put it in a training pot. 

         It had a massive root structure but I had to level
out the bottom of the trunk so it will fit into a shallow
pot in the future. I put a heavy coating of lac balsam
on the bottom & I'll put another coating on when its
time to repot again.

     This is a tool I bought recently from arbotech it
really cuts the time it takes to make a cut. I shaved
the trunk down in about 3 minutes.

            The crepe myrtle in it's new training pot
it will remain in this pot for 1 to 2 yrs. then it
will go into a shallow bonsai pot.

       This is a winged cedar elm I collected about 3 yrs.
ago.I used the same tool to shave off the top of the
trunk.

        This will be the front of the tree with it's
new apex. In the future we will develop
more branches.

       I finally managed to transplant the clump of
trident maples (that I got at the Dallas auction)
now they will grow a lot faster & fuse to make
a large trunk.  

                  This is Gabe standing in typical terrain
where we hunt trees along the banks of creek
beds.

          Gabe has located an oak on the side of a
cliff notice the creek below one false move &
he's going to get wet, I think that's why he's
holding on to the trunk.

        Back home we pot the oak in a large
container.

         Since we didn't get many roots we decided
to cut back to the trunk & see if it will put out
any new buds, we'll have to wait & see.

Saturday dig on creek bed

   Well we had good weather Saturday a little cool in the a.m.
but it warmed up into the seventies. We had a few cancellations
but about 8 or 9 people showed up for the dig. 
    Lois Flood was the only female who attended, unfortunately
I didn't get a picture of her but she was game and entered the creek.

   Looking for the right tree to dig up

     Every body took off in different directions

    Still looking for the right tree

     People helping one another to get their
tree

      One by one they're coming in with their trees

 Every body's happy with their trees & taking a rest

   Afterward some of the people came to my place
and potted up their trees

    This is one of the trees I dug up & potted it
in a box.



  All in all it was a pretty good day for a dig now
I'm tired but it was worth it, I hope everyone
went home happy!!!!
